ABOUT

Helping animals in need.
Journey Home Animal Rescue, based in Grand Forks, North Dakota was founded in 2018. A group of dedicated animal advocates recognized the need for a foster based rescue in the area.
We accept strays and owner surrenders from ND, MN, SD, and occasionally outside areas. They are in foster homes receiving medical care and learning to be a beloved family member until they are ready to start their new journey in their forever home. Since there are so many animals in need, we also work with other rescues to get animals to safety. North Dakota is overflowing with animals that desperately need our help. We transport 100s of animals a year to partnering rescues in MN, ND, & WI.
Our foundation is built on a passion for helping animals and working together to make a better future for all.

Amy Huderle
"I got my love for animals growing up on a farm in Minnesota. I have been volunteering in animal rescue for over 10 years, driving hundreds of miles transporting to other rescues and taking many animals into my home to foster. When I'm not trying to help animals, I pass my time with a job in accounting. I was also a pet sitter for over 15 years. Now, my family of 4 cats and a foster dog keep me busy and close to home. I believe animals are family members and should be treated as such."

"I am lucky enough to be married to my wonderful wife and am the father to two great daughters who share the passion for fostering and helping dogs. My family and I share our home with "the chosen ones", two rescue German Shepherds and an adopted cat who have raised many foster pups. Although I now call North Dakota home, I am proud to be a native Minnesotan. We enjoy sharing our lives of gardening, traveling, camping and outdoor walks with all the fosters that enter our home. My favorite thing is hearing from adopters of prior fosters, years later and their happy stories."

"I grew up begging for a dog but wasn't lucky enough to get my first rescue dog until college. I didn't know much about the need for rescue until a few short years ago, and once I learned of the need, I dived into help with my whole heart. Who will stand up for these animals without a voice unless we do? I can't ever turn my back on them and will be their voice until all animals have been rescued. I love being active, running my own business, spending time with my friends and family, and of course, saving animals! I'm privileged to be a part of an organization that shares the strong moral obligation to the animals that I feel in my heart. "

"I have been an animal lover and protector all my life, for as long as I can remember. I strongly believe in always doing everything I can for all animals and want to help build an organization and community that does the same. I have been active in animal rescue since approximately 2006 as a foster, volunteer, donor, transporter, board member, and more. I am excited to be able to make even more of a difference in our community. When I commit to helping an animal, its for forever, even after adopted. I look forward to being able to further this through Journey Home Animal Rescue."
