A 6-year-old Great Dane with a heart as big as his size

This sweet boy came to Journey Home after the passing of his beloved owner, and the transition was incredibly hard on him. He arrived scared, stressed, and grieving—but with time, patience, love, and an emotional support pillow, he’s shown just how resilient and affectionate he truly is.

Over the past month in foster care, he has made wonderful progress. His anxiety has improved significantly, and he can now be left alone for about four hours at a time. He’s still working through the occasional accident indoors, but he’s trying his best and continues to settle more every day.

He has also gone from only being able to walk around the block to hiking four miles—a huge accomplishment for this gentle senior! He loves going on a leashed walk around the neighborhood or an off leash walk in the country. He enjoys exploring and soaking in the fresh air, and he’s shown interest in playing with other dogs. His sweet, social nature is coming back to life.

Despite everything he’s been through, he remains incredibly affectionate. If you're looking for a soulful, loving companion who just wants to be close to his person, he would love nothing more than to be that dog.
