Hi I’m Ruger!

I’m a small/medium sized dog with lots of puppy energy still. I take my own time to warm up to new people but when I do, I want to give you all the kisses, hugs, and snuggles. I’m looking for a home with someone who will love me and be patient and expose me to new situations and new people since I seem to have some anxiety with the unknown.

I love to play fetch and go for long walks because I’m a high energy dog. I do get excitable on our walks and like to alert my foster mom of every person I see. But she redirects me and I listen well to her reassurance that I’m okay.

She works long hours (she leaves me for 13 hrs at a time!!!!) but her friend comes and lets me out after 6 hours. And since I’m potty trained, I really appreciate the bathroom break. It took me 2 times of meeting her friend to not be as scared. I just needed to get used to this new person. I’m learning that new people and situations are fun but I still appreciate going at my own pace to warm up to all the newness.

I wouldn’t be a good fit for apartment living since when I’m alone I alert at every sound I hear.
