To be a part of an animal's journey to a better life; to love and provide safety to their forever home, is something truly special and what animal rescue is all about.  It's what we strive for.

Cleo

Cleo

Hi! I’m Cleo! I am looking for my forever home to be experienced and understand canine behavior. I had a rough life prior and I have some special quirks that I need my new home to understand.

My foster mom tells me I’m quite silly. I think playing chase is the best game ever invented! If you or a doggy friend would chase me around the house, I’d just be in heaven! I think toys are awesome too. I’m a playful little girl and love doggy and cat friends!

Walks are my other favorite thing. My little legs can go for miles! So you if you are looking for an exercise program to keep you active and get your daily walks in, and then snuggle at night, I’m your gal!

I know how to ask to go potty, and haven’t had any accidents at my foster home because my foster mom taught me where to go, how to ask, and takes me out when it’s been a while. I love being praised for being a good girl!

If you put me in my kennel to sleep at night, I will be sad for a couple minutes because I’d rather be with you, but then I snuggle right in. When it’s time to get up in the morning and go potty, I’d love to come back in and snuggle under the covers, that’s the best!

I have a funny quirk about me with the extra yummy chewy bones. I think that I should be the only one that gets to touch them. I don’t resource guard everything, but I think those bones should be all mine! My foster mom says it’s normal to have my little quirks, but we are working on correcting it because I can be a diva about it. I’d do best in a home where children are old enough to understand me.

Also, my previous life before rescue was pretty rough. Thank goodness the rescue found me! I was injured on my underside. You can pick me up, but if you touch my tender spot, I get upset because it really hurts! So please don’t hurt me!

Foster mom says I’m smart and a quick learner! I respect her when she tells me I can’t sit on the couch, and I wait for permission before I sit on her lap. I like respecting rules, it makes me a happier girl in your house. I’m working on sitting to earn treats and such. Sometimes I think “sit” means, "stand still and stair at you with my cute little eyes”!

I’d love to find a home that will love me forever and help me work on my quirks, because I know I’m worth it! I have so much love and snuggles to give!

December update: Cleo has been with us for about 6 weeks now. She is equal parts sweet and sassy. She loves going for walks and running zoomies but she is also a fantastic snuggler. Cleo does pretty well in a crate at night (she may be vocal for a few minutes but it doesn't last long). Cleo is housebroken when kept on a schedule and does well about going right away when outside. Cleo does well with most dogs and cats however does struggle with some resource guarding. For this reason all feeding and high value chews, ect, should be given in her crate. Cleo is adorable however will need a home that understands she doesn't want to be picked up all the time. Cleo would benefit from a home with structure and rules.

It took Cleo 2 weeks to warm up to my husband but after the initial 2 weeks she grew to love him and really looks forward to their nightly walks together. She has been a wonderful addition to our home and we thoroughly enjoy having her!

Cleo loves to play and frequently runs “zoomies” through the house with Coco. She LOVES to snuggle and prefers to be near her people but is also content hanging out in a room by herself enjoying a bone.

Cleo is not 100% potty-trained, but we are working on that. She rides great in a car and walks well on a leash. We are currently attempting to teach her SIT, STAY, etc. She kennels at night like a PRO and doesn’t make a peep unless she hears something unusual. She is protective of us and alerts us to any noise she hears outside. She is still nervous/defensive when first meeting people, especially men, but warms up after she realizes there is no threat to her or her people. Cleo is learning to trust more every day. She is blossoming into an absolute sweetheart! She brings so much joy to our home.
