Meet Isla!

Isla absolutely loves people and gets so excited she will jump up on you. She hasn't met a stranger in her life. She's proven herself to do well in busy places and with crowds. She's a confident, enthusiastic dog who is ready for her next forever adventure.

Isla's basic obedience training is coming along nicely with how smart and food motivated she is. She is currently mastering how to sit, lie down, spin, place, heel, middle, stay, recall, walk on a leash without pulling and go in her crate. Isla benefits greatly from having a structured day mixed with training sessions, a long walk, a few naps, potty breaks, playtime with her toys (or another dog) and cuddles. A routine avoids Isla growing bored and finding trouble, which she's good at when given the chance. She has a lot of energy and is happiest and the most well behaved when her mental and physical needs are met with various forms of exercise and enrichment.

Isla gets super excited around other dogs. She likes to play rough and needs to be reminded when she is being too much for the other dog as she tends to miss social cues when in the throes of excitement. A proper introduction is extremely important, as Isla is a sensitive dog who reads very deeply into body language. With proper introductions and a normal settling in period, she now happily lives with 3 other foster puppies.

Isla's foster home has 2 cats that she is very interested in. Due to her breed mix, she has a prey drive. When her instinct to chase comes out, it's best she's crated for a while until she calms down. Isla has improved vastly since being in foster and given the time to adjust to the new environment and get used to resident pets. Her potential adopter should still be attentive with her around small animals.

Isla is fully crate trained. She will go in when asked and settles without fuss. She can be left home alone in her crate for a full day (as long as the house is puppy proofed, she has done well uncrated too). Isla needs to be fed in her crate as she does resource guard her food from other resident pets. This includes any kind of treat as well. She doesn't care about humans coming near her while she eats though. Isla can be crated or uncrated overnight, whatever your preference.

All in all, Isla is a happy-go-lucky, friendly, outgoing, active dog with puppy mentality looking for a dedicated and committed owner who will continue her training to live happily ever after with. Is that you?
