Bernard also known as Mr. Puppy Dog Eyes, is the sweetest pup. He has made so
much progress since coming into our home just over a week ago.
As a puppy mill release pup, Bernard is a little on the shy side and is hesitant about
human interaction. He not only loves being around other dogs but also desires to be
near people. At one point, he would only be near me if other dogs were as well, but
after 5 days, he seeks scratches and pets on his own. He is making progress not
distancing himself from unfamiliar people, especially if treats are involved.
Bernard is catching on quickly to basic commands. He is also making good progress on
potty training. He will do all his business on a potty pad close to 100% of the time
inside, and he keeps his penned area clean. Luckily, snow and cold don’t bother
Bernard, and he has learned that going outside when the resident dog goes out, also
means going potty.
Bernard’s favorites Include:
1. Playing with other dogs. He loves running as fast as he can outside in the snow
with the resident dog and playing chase inside.
2. Playing with toys. He plays with toys on his own and shares them well.
3. Getting scratches from humans. He will now ask for scratches from trusted
humans and will also let other people scratch and pet him that he is not as
comfortable with.
4. Napping on a trusted person’s lap. He could possibly sleep all day on someone’s
lap and will often ask to climb up to sleep or snuggle.
Bernard pushes himself to be brave. He knows that he wants a family of his very own
that he can trust and love. Are you the family that will have the patience to give Mr.
